The Foundation celebrated its diamond anniversary with good deeds

Members of the Lithuanian Foundation, celebrating the organization’s 60th anniversary, gathered for the 59th Annual Meeting on 30 April 2022. The Lithuanian Foundation greeted its anniversary with good deeds, discussing the organization’s work in 2021 at the meeting.

Tauras Bublys, Chairman of the Board of Directors, commenced the meeting. The anthems of the United States of America were played, and the anthem of the Republic of Lithuania was sung by the soloist of the Kaunas State Musical Theater, Egidijus Bavikinas.

Vaidas Lukoševičius, SJ, the director of the  Jurgis Matulaitis mission, read a meaningful invocation and invited all the participants of the meeting to honor those LF members who died from 2021 to April 2022.

Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania in Chicago, Sigrida Mulevičienė, came to greet the meeting’s participants. President of the Lithuanian American Community National Executive Committee Arvydas Urbonavičius congratulated the Foundation on its 60th anniversary, and Chairperson of the Lithuanian World Community Dalia Henke sent a video welcome. Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the United States Audra Plepytė, Consul General in New York Vaclovas Šalkauskas, Consul General in Los Angeles Laima Jūrevičienė, and Honorary Consul General Ingrida Bublienė sent their written congratulations.

The minute’s summary of the 58th Lithuanian Foundation Members’ Annual Meeting, held on 1 May 2021, was read by the gathering’s secretary Laima Apanavičienė.

Chairman of the Registration Committee Dalius Vasys announced that 8,671 members with voting rights had voted – 35% of all possible votes. The quorum was maintained.

Chairman of the Nominations Commission Marius Kasniūnas presented six candidates to the LF Board of Directors. During the meeting, five of them – Saulius Čyvas, Viktoras Kaufmanas, Vytautas Narutis, Rimas Radzevičius, and Loreta Sadauskas – were elected to the LF Board of Directors for a three-year term.

Chairman of the Board of Directors Tauras Bublys and LF President Milda Davis reviewed the activities carried out in 2021 and were pleased with the good results. Viktoras Kaufmanas read the report of the Finance Committee (Chairman Gintaras Vaišnys). Treasurer Laima Kilienė, Chairman of the Grants Commission Juozas Kapačinskas, and Chairman of the Development Committee Jonas Howes reported to the Annual Meeting participants on the work done in 2021.

After the 59th Annual LF Members’ Meeting was over, the Board of Directors assembled. Tauras Bublys was elected Chairman of the LF Board of Directors for one year, and Audronė Pavilčius-Karalius was elected LF President.
